Kotdwar, February 9, 2026 (RNS):
In a strong crackdown against corruption, the Dehradun Vigilance team on Monday arrested an Assistant Sub-Inspector posted in the Fire Service Department in Kotdwar while he was allegedly accepting a bribe. The action created a flutter within the department and the local area.
According to official sources, the accused officer, identified as Randhir Singh, was allegedly demanding illegal gratification in lieu of carrying out an official task. As soon as the officer accepted the bribe amount from the complainant, the Vigilance team caught him red-handed on the spot. The accused has been taken into custody and is being interrogated.
Vigilance officials said that necessary legal action is being initiated against the accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
