Uttarakhand Director General of Police (DGP) Shri Deepam Seth chaired a high-level review meeting on crime and law & order at Police Headquarters, Dehradun, and issued strong directives against police personnel found negligent in serious criminal cases.
The DGP made it clear that any lapse in handling heinous crimes, especially crimes against women, will invite immediate disciplinary action.
Officers Suspended in Serious Crime Cases
In the Rishikesh woman shooting case, AIIMS Chowki In-Charge SI Sahil Vashist was suspended for negligence.
In another major case involving the murder of a girl in Kotwali Nagar, Dehradun, Khudbuda Chowki In-Charge SI Pradyumna Negi was also suspended.
Both cases have been handed over to SP Crime Dehradun Smt. Vishakha Bhadane, who has been directed to submit a detailed inquiry report within seven days.
Ravidas Jayanti Violence: Action in Haridwar
Following the clash and firing during a Ravidas Jayanti procession in Bhagwanpur area of Haridwar district, Chudiyala Halka In-Charge SI Surat Sharma was suspended for gross negligence.
The inquiry has been assigned to SP Crime Haridwar Shri Jitendra Mehra, with a seven-day deadline.
CO-Level Inquiry Made Mandatory in Land Fraud Cases
After allegations in the Sukhwant Singh suicide case (Udham Singh Nagar), the DGP ordered that preliminary inquiry by Circle Officer (CO) will now be mandatory in all land fraud cases to clearly determine whether the matter is civil or criminal.
All pending land-related cases will be monitored directly by Police Headquarters.
Vigilance to Act Against Corrupt Cops
Reiterating the state government’s zero-tolerance policy on corruption, the DGP instructed the Vigilance Department to identify corrupt police personnel and take swift and strict action.
Senior officers from Police Headquarters, Garhwal and Kumaon Ranges, and all districts attended the meeting
