Keeping humanitarian values and rehabilitation at the core, a special picnic programme was organised today for the residents of the Government Women Welfare and Rehabilitation Centre (Nari Niketan), Dehradun, in compliance with the directions of District Magistrate Savin Bansal.
As part of this initiative, the residents of Nari Niketan were taken to Cross Road Mall, where they watched the much-awaited film “Border–2.” Following the movie, lunch was arranged for them at a local hotel in a warm and affectionate atmosphere. Throughout the programme, the faces of the residents reflected happiness, confidence and a sense of belonging.
District Probation Officer Mrs. Meena Bisht, Nari Niketan Superintendent Mrs. Sonal Rana, along with other staff members of the centre, were present during the programme and ensured that the entire event was conducted smoothly, safely and in a cordial manner.
The district administration stated that under the leadership of the District Magistrate, continuous efforts are being made for the mental, social and emotional empowerment of the residents of Nari Niketan. Such programmes are aimed not merely at recreation, but at fostering self-respect, encouraging positive thinking and strengthening their connection with the mainstream of society.
The District Magistrate believes that when women residing in shelter homes are treated with dignity, affection and exposed to a normal social environment, their rehabilitation becomes more effective and meaningful. With this spirit, the district administration will continue to undertake such sensitive and inspiring initiatives in the future
