Eight impersonators, including four boys and four girls, were caught during the board examination on Tuesday for appearing in place of registered candidates. The suspects had reached the examination centre to write the exam on behalf of others but were detected by vigilant invigilators. A complaint has been filed with the police for further action.
On Tuesday, the High School Hindi paper was being conducted. Students of Savitri Shiksha Sadan Inter College, Rawali Mahdood, had been allotted Government Inter College, Salempur, as their examination centre. During routine checking, invigilators noticed suspicious behaviour in multiple examination rooms and identified eight candidates who appeared doubtful.
Upon verifying admit cards and matching them with the candidates’ faces, invigilators grew suspicious. When questioned, the students became nervous, confirming the doubts. Further interrogation revealed that the individuals appearing in the exam were not the actual registered candidates. They had allegedly replaced the photographs on admit cards and appeared in the exam as proxies. All eight were immediately detained.
Centre superintendent Suresh Chandra Dwivedi informed the police about the incident. Police arrived at the spot and took the accused into custody. A formal complaint has been submitted, and a case is being prepared against all eight accused.
Serious questions are also being raised about the role of the principal of Savitri Shiksha Sadan Inter College. It is suspected that the admit card photo manipulation may have been done at the institutional level to help registered students pass by sending proxies in their place. The centre superintendent has reportedly provided evidence in the complaint that could bring the principal under police investigation as well.
