The joint team of STF Uttarakhand and Dehradun Police has cracked the sensational murder case that took place on February 13 at Silver City Mall in the RAJPUR ROAD PS Dalanwala area. Two accused involved in the conspiracy have been arrested from different states, while efforts are ongoing to nab other suspects.
Murder Planned Months Earlier
According to the police investigation, the murder of Vikram Sharma was pre-planned several months ago. The accused had earlier attempted to target him in Jamshedpur and Noida but failed due to his constant security and presence of associates.
Nearly three months before the incident, one of the conspirators joined the same gym that Vikram frequented. On the day of the murder, the accused informed his associates over the phone about Vikram’s presence at the gym, enabling them to execute the plan.
Escape Route and Vehicles
After the shooting, the accused fled using a rented scooter and motorcycle arranged from Haridwar. CCTV footage revealed three bike-borne assailants executing the crime and escaping towards Sahastradhara Road, where they switched vehicles before heading towards Haridwar.
Later, they fled in a black Scorpio SUV (JH-05-DZ-5517), registered in Jamshedpur. Police teams were dispatched immediately.
Arrests in Jamshedpur and Greater Noida
On February 19, police arrested one accused, Rajkumar, from Jamshedpur. Subsequently, on February 23, the Scorpio vehicle was recovered from Alpha-2 Apartments in Greater Noida, and another accused, Mohit alias Akshat Thakur, was arrested and brought to Dehradun for questioning.
During interrogation, it was revealed that Mohit is a BBA first-year student at a private university in Noida and was living in Greater Noida with two friends. The conspiracy allegedly involved multiple associates, including Ashutosh, Vishal, and others.
Criminal Background and Motive
The deceased, Vikram Sharma, a resident of Aman Vihar, Raipur, was reportedly a notorious criminal from Jharkhand, involved in cases of murder, attempted murder, and extortion. He was out on bail in multiple cases.
Police stated that the motive behind the killing stemmed from a past rivalry linked to jail disputes. The accused allegedly aimed to establish dominance in the criminal underworld by eliminating Vikram Sharma.
Reward Announced
The SSP Dehradun has announced a reward of ₹25,000 each on other absconding accused. Police operations are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects.
