The Dehradun Police have solved the sensational daylight murder of gas agency owner Arjun Sharma near Tibetan Market within 24 hours. Two shooters were injured in separate police encounters, and the deceased’s mother along with two of her associates have been arrested for allegedly conspiring in the murder over a property dispute.
Shooters Injured in Separate Encounters
Following instructions from the SSP, intensive checking was carried out across the district. Late at night in the Ladpur area under Raipur police station limits, a suspect opened fire at a police team during checking. In retaliatory firing, he was shot in the leg. He was identified as Rajeev alias Raju (50), a resident of Chakkhuwala. A .315 bore country-made pistol and cartridges were recovered from him.
In another incident near Laltappad under Doiwala police station limits, a scooter rider attempted to flee and fired at the police. In self-defense, police shot him in the leg. He was identified as Pankaj Rana (52), also a resident of Chakkhuwala. A .315 bore pistol and cartridges were recovered from his possession. Both accused are real brothers and have been admitted to Coronation Hospital for treatment.
CCTV Footage Helped Crack the Case
CCTV footage from the crime scene and surrounding areas revealed that two scooter-borne assailants carried out the shooting near Parade Ground Tibetan Market. During interrogation, both accused confessed to shooting Arjun Sharma dead.
₹14 Crore Property Deal Led to Murder
Police investigation revealed that Arjun Sharma had an ongoing dispute with his mother, Beena Sharma, regarding a property on GMS Road. The property was reportedly sold to Dr. Ajay Khanna for ₹14 crore, out of which ₹8 crore had already been paid. However, Arjun Sharma obtained a stay order from the court, halting the deal.
Due to mounting financial pressure and the stalled transaction, Beena Sharma, Dr. Ajay Khanna, and Vinod Uniyal allegedly conspired to eliminate Arjun. The two shooters were hired for ₹12 lakh, of which ₹3 lakh was paid in advance.
WhatsApp Chats and Surveillance Exposed the Conspiracy
During investigation, police found that Pankaj Rana had been in contact with Vinod Uniyal via WhatsApp before and after the incident. It was also revealed that Beena Sharma had earlier sought details about her son’s daily routine from his manager. Based on these findings, police arrested Beena Sharma, Vinod Uniyal, and Dr. Ajay Khanna.
Five Arrested, Weapons and Scooter Recovered
All five accused have been arrested. The two main shooters have been taken into police remand. Police recovered two .315 bore country-made pistols, live and spent cartridges, and the scooter used in the cri
