Acting on strict instructions from the Chief Minister, Dehradun Police achieved a major breakthrough in the sensational murder that took place in front of Tibetan Market. In separate early-morning encounters across different police station areas, two accused shooters were arrested. Both sustained bullet injuries to their legs and are currently undergoing medical treatment.
Following directions from the SSP Dehradun, intensive checking and naka-bandi operations were being carried out across urban and rural areas of the district to nab the culprits. The crackdown led to the arrests.
Encounter in Raipur Area
During checking operations in the Ladpur forest area under Raipur police station limits, one suspect opened fire at the police team. In retaliatory firing, the accused was injured in the leg and arrested. He was immediately shifted to Coronation (Corporation) Hospital for treatment.
Second Encounter in Laltappar
In another incident near Laltappar police outpost, a scooter-borne suspect attempted to flee when signaled to stop. He reportedly entered an abandoned factory premises and fired at the police party. In the ensuing exchange of fire, he was shot in the right leg and apprehended.
Weapons Recovered
Police recovered two country-made pistols and one scooter from the accused.
Confession in Murder Case
During preliminary interrogation, both accused allegedly confessed to carrying out the murder in front of Tibetan Market. Further questioning is underway.
Senior officials rushed to the spot after receiving information. SSP Dehradun personally visited Coronation Hospital to review the situation and gather details from officers.
