Dehradun. 5 feb 2026.

In a swift and decisive action, Dehradun Police have filed a chargesheet within just three days in the brutal murder case of a young woman that occurred on February 2, 2026, under the Kotwali Nagar police station area. The Special Investigation Team (SIT), constituted on the directions of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), has included statements of 35 witnesses in the chargesheet.
The accused, Akash, son of Komal Ram, resident of Mannu Ganj, Khudbuda Mohalla, Kotwali Nagar, Dehradun, was arrested immediately after the incident and produced before the court, from where he was sent to judicial custody at the district jail.
Considering the sensitivity and gravity of the case, the SSP Dehradun constituted an SIT under the supervision of the Superintendent of Police (City). The SIT conducted a thorough and scientific investigation, examining CCTV footage from the crime scene and surrounding areas. A forensic team was deployed to collect crucial physical and forensic evidence.
The scooter used by the accused during the commission of the crime was seized, and a detailed route chart of his movements before and after the incident was prepared. The weapon used in the crime, along with the clothes, shoes, and helmet worn by the accused—found stained with the victim’s blood—were seized and sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory for examination. The victim’s bloodstained clothes were also sent for forensic analysis.
In view of the seriousness of the crime, the post-mortem examination of the deceased was conducted by a panel of expert doctors. The post-mortem report, eyewitness statements, electronic evidence, and forensic findings have been incorporated into the investigation through e-evidence.
The SIT completed the entire investigative process within three days and filed the chargesheet against the accused, listing 35 witnesses. Dehradun Police have stated that the case will be pursued in a fast-track court.
SSP Dehradun stated that the heinous murder will be argued under the “rarest of rare” category before the court, and the police will strongly pursue the case to ensure the accused is awarded the harshest possible punishment.
