A 19-year-old MBBS first-year student was found dead under suspicious circumstances at a medical university located in the Jolly Grant area of Dehradun, Uttarakhand. The student’s body was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan inside her hostel room, triggering panic across the university campus.
Upon receiving information about the incident, the university administration immediately informed the police. A police team reached the spot, took custody of the body, completed the necessary legal formalities, and sent it for post-mortem examination. The matter is currently under detailed investigation.
Jolly Grant Outpost In-charge Ishwar Singh Saini stated that the deceased student was a native of Muzaffarnagar district in Uttar Pradesh and was pursuing her MBBS first year at the university. Concern arose when she did not come out of her room for a long time. Fellow students then checked the room and found her hanging from the fan.
According to Circle Officer (Sadar) Vivek Kutiyal, the body has been sent for post-mortem. Based on preliminary investigation and information gathered from classmates, police suspect that the student may have taken the extreme step following a dispute with another student. However, no suicide note or any objectionable material was recovered from the scene.
The police have informed the deceased student’s family and called them from Muzaffarnagar to Dehradun. Officials stated that the post-mortem will be conducted in the presence of the family members, after which further legal action will be initiated. To ascertain the exact cause of death, the student’s mobile phone and social media accounts are also being examined.
Following the incident, a wave of grief has swept through the student’s family, while the university administration remains closely monitoring the situation.
