Dehradun,(RNS) February 10:
Uttarakhand Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd) on Tuesday held a courtesy meeting with Doon University Vice-Chancellor Prof Surekha Dangwal at Lok Bhavan. During the meeting, the Governor directed that the upcoming Vasantotsav-2026, scheduled to be held at Lok Bhavan from February 27 to March 1, be given wide publicity through the university’s Department of Media and Mass Communication.
The Governor emphasized the need for live streaming of the event and extensive promotion through social media platforms to ensure that information about the festival reaches the wider public. He recalled that last year too, the Mass Communication Department of Doon University had successfully provided live coverage and comprehensive media support for the event.
Highlighting the significance of flowers in Uttarakhand, the Governor said that the state has a distinct identity in floriculture, which is a major boon for the region. He noted that flowers can open up new avenues for economic development and directed the university’s Department of Economics to undertake research and provide suggestions on linking the festival with economic activities.
He also instructed that detailed documentation of the entire event be carried out.
Head of the Department of Economics Prof Rajendra Prasad Mamgain and Head of the Department of Media and Mass Communication Prof Rajesh Kumar were also present on the occasion
