Dehradun: (RNS). 24 FEB 2026
In a proud moment for Uttarakhand, senior police officer Lokjeet Singh has been selected for the prestigious SKOCH Award for his outstanding role in managing the Char Dham Yatra. The award will be conferred on March 28, 2026, during the 106th SKOCH Summit at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi.
Following the challenges faced during the 2024 Yatra, Uttarakhand Police Headquarters decided to establish a dedicated Control Room under the IG Range to ensure better coordination and crisis response. Lokjeet Singh was appointed to lead the initiative and set up the Control Room within a short span, launching extensive preparations along with his team.
Managing the 2025 Char Dham Yatra smoothly was a major challenge for the government and administration. Under Lokjeet Singh’s leadership, the Control Room adopted a systematic and technology-driven approach, introducing several new operational measures. The team dynamically handled multiple emergencies and logistical challenges during the pilgrimage.
Among the key responsibilities managed under his supervision were coordination of rescue operations during the Dharali disaster, handling heightened security concerns during the Pahalgam terror attack, and monitoring rescue efforts in helicopter crash incidents. His leadership and crisis management were widely appreciated.
This is not the first time Lokjeet Singh has been recognised at the national level. In 2021, he received the FICCI Smart Policing Award for his contribution to COVID-19 management. In 2024, he was also honoured with the Governor’s Excellent Service Medal for his exemplary role in Char Dham Yatra management
