Dehradun (RNS). 26 FEB 2026
The Holi Milan celebration held at the Pradesh Congress headquarters in the temporary capital turned out to be more than just a festival of colors. It emerged as a platform showcasing organizational unity and a strong cultural message. With the beats of the dholak, the rhythm of manjiras, and traditional Kumaoni and Garhwali Holyar songs filling the air, the entire परिसर transformed into a vibrant festive venue. Amid clouds of gulal and abeer, leaders and party workers exchanged colors, spreading a message of brotherhood and harmony.
The presence of Pradesh Congress President Ganesh Godiyal infused special enthusiasm among party workers. Godiyal himself was seen enjoying and dancing along to traditional Holi songs, setting aside political formalities as the spirit of color, music, and camaraderie took center stage.
The event was attended by Leader of Opposition Yashpal Arya, former Pradesh Congress President Karan Mahara, senior leader Dr. Harak Singh Rawat, and former state president Pritam Singh, among several other senior leaders. Karan Mahara and Dr. Harak Singh Rawat added fresh energy to the celebration with lively dance performances, while party spokesperson Garima Dasauni captivated the audience with traditional Holi songs. Senior Vice President Suryakant Dhasmana conducted the programme in an engaging and spirited manner.
One of the most striking highlights of the event was that several top Congress leaders were seen wearing the traditional “Doka” attire associated with Uttarakhand’s hill and particularly tribal communities. Appearing together in identical traditional dress, the leaders not only paid tribute to the state’s cultural heritage but also conveyed a strong message of unity and solidarity.
In his address, Ganesh Godiyal said that Holi is not merely a festival of colors but an opportunity to connect hearts and spread positivity in society. He urged party workers to actively engage with the public, share in their joys and sorrows, and work with dedication for the prosperity of the state. Yashpal Arya emphasized that unity is the real strength of any organization, stating that just as different colors blend to create a beautiful hue, collective efforts strengthen the party. Other leaders also conveyed messages of social harmony and mutual goodwill.
Political observers view the event as part of the Congress party’s preparations for the 2027 Assembly elections in Uttarakhand. With both Congress and BJP intensifying their activities ahead of the upcoming polls, the celebration is being seen not just as a cultural gathering but also as a demonstration of organizational strength and cohesion.
The programme concluded with leaders and workers extending Holi greetings to the people of the state. Blending color, folk music, and a message of unity, the celebration reflected renewed energy within the Congress and hinted at its broader political strategy in the run-up to the elections.
