A seven-day special annual camp of the National Service Scheme (NSS) units of DBS (P.G.) College began on Friday in a grand manner at Vedic Sadhan Ashram, Tapovan Nalapani, Raipur. The camp was inaugurated by lighting the ceremonial lamp jointly by the chief guest and Chief Disaster Management Officer of the Youth Red Cross Society, noted blood donor Dr. Anil Verma, special guest Secretary E. Prem Prakash Sharma, and Principal Prof. Dr. Anil Pal. Around 100 girl students from Unit 19 and 20 of the college are participating in the camp.
Addressing the students, chief guest Dr. Anil Verma said that the core objective of NSS is to channel the immense energy of youth toward constructive and social activities. Emphasizing the need for proper guidance for the ‘Gen Z’ generation, he said that in times of global conflicts and natural disasters, trained youth power becomes the strongest shield for society and the nation. He urged the students to learn training related to disaster management, fire safety, and first aid with seriousness during the camp so that they can play a leading role in social welfare in the future.
Secretary of Vedic Sadhan Ashram, E. Prem Prakash Sharma, inspired the youth to utilize their abilities selflessly in the interest of the nation. He also discussed the importance of discipline and self-control for students and shared insights on physical and mental development.
Camp Chairman and Principal Dr. Anil Pal appealed to the students to spread the message of cleanliness through voluntary service in Tapovan Ashram and nearby areas and to develop their personalities through expert lectures during the camp.
Senior Programme Officer Dr. Sheetal Kannaujia presented the detailed outline of the camp and said that the main objective of the event is to develop leadership qualities and social harmony among students with the ideals of “Nation First” and “Not Me, But You”.
After the inaugural session, under the guidance of Cultural Incharge Dr. Barkha Kamal, the students presented patriotic songs along with Garhwali and Kumaoni folk performances such as “Panch Kedara–Panch Badri” and “Phoola Phulari”, captivating the audience.
On this occasion, Head of the Botany Department Dr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, NCC Officer Dr. Devesh Singh, along with Dr. Arvind Chaudhary, Dr. Abhishek Gupta and Dr. Dilip Sharma also guided the students.
