Dehradun: 20 march 2026 (RNS).
The long-awaited expansion of the Uttarakhand cabinet under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was finally carried out on Friday, with five new ministers inducted into the state government. The move is being seen as a significant step toward strengthening the administration and ensuring regional and political balance. The swearing-in ceremony was held at the Raj Bhavan, where Governor Gurmit Singh administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly appointed ministers. The event was attended by senior political leaders, public representatives, and top administrative officials. Those inducted into the cabinet include Rajpur MLA Khajan Das, Bharat Singh Chaudhary from Rudraprayag, senior leader Madan Kaushik from Haridwar, Roorkee MLA Pradeep Batra, and Madan Singh Kheda representing the Kumaon region. With this expansion, all five long-vacant मंत्री positions in the state cabinet have now been filled. The development is expected to accelerate governance and improve administrative efficiency across different regions of the state. A notable highlight of the ceremony was when Bharat Singh Chaudhary took the oath in Sanskrit, while the other ministers took their oath in Hindi. Political observers believe that this cabinet expansion is a strategic move by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to balance organizational interests and address regional equations, especially in view of upcoming political challenges.
All eyes are now on the allocation of portfolios and how the newly inducted ministers will perform in their respective roles. The public expects faster development work and improved governance following this expansion.
