Rishikesh/Dehradun, 28 March 2026(RNS)
In a major ACTION against negligence, the Dehradun Police Chief has suspended the entire staff of the IDPL police outpost in Rishikesh for failing to curb illegal activities and showing laxity in checking drives. A total of 12 policemen, including the outpost in-charge, have been placed under suspension.
The action followed a secret tip-off received by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Dehradun, on the night of March 27 regarding large-scale gambling at a hotel in the Rishikesh area. Taking the input seriously, immediate directions were issued for कार्रवाई.
Acting on the orders, a police team led by the Circle Officer, Rishikesh, conducted a raid at Hotel Navrang, located near the poultry farm on Haridwar Road. During the raid, police recovered gambling materials, a significant amount of cash, and bottles of liquor of various brands. Several individuals were also arrested while gambling on the spot.
During the operation, it was found that there had been serious negligence at the IDPL outpost level, particularly in conducting checking and verification drives. Taking a strict view of the lapse, the SSP ordered the immediate suspension of the entire outpost staff.
The SSP has made it clear that no laxity will be tolerated in action against illegal activities. All police stations and outposts have been directed to carry out intensive checking and verification drives in their respective areas.
