Researchers, academicians, and industry experts at Graphic Era Deemed University emphasised that the true potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) should extend beyond solving complex problems and improving operational efficiency. They stressed that AI must also be harnessed as a powerful tool for conserving natural resources and promoting environmental sustainability.
Speaking at the valedictory session of the two-day International Conference on Computational Technologies held at Graphic Era Deemed University, Dr. S. N. Singh, Director of IIITM Gwalior and Immediate Past Chair of IEEE UP Section, said that with rapidly advancing computing capabilities, sustainability must become an integral part of technological development. He highlighted the need to design computing technologies that deliver higher performance while consuming less energy and minimising environmental impact.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. Narinder Singh said that sustainability should not remain confined to ideas and policies but must become a part of everyday life to achieve meaningful impact.
Dr. Mohammad Rehan, Director General of the National Institute of Solar Energy, noted that rising carbon emissions from industrial activities are among the primary causes of environmental degradation. He underlined the importance of adopting cleaner and smarter technologies to address this growing challenge.
During the conference, experts delivered lectures on a wide range of emerging technologies, including Machine Learning, Computational Technologies, Sustainable Computing, Smart Grids, Cyber-Physical Systems, the Internet of Things (IoT), Data Analytics, and other advanced research areas.
The international conference witnessed participation from delegates representing nine countries, both online and offline. It was jointly organised by the Department of Computer Science & Engineering and the Department of Electrical Engineering of Graphic Era Deemed University, in collaboration with IEEE UP Section and ANRF.
Among the distinguished attendees were Dr. D. R. Gangodkar, Dean of Computing and International Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Shashidhar Koolagudi from NIT Karnataka, along with several eminent researchers and academicians.
